NutriEat is an AI-powered nutrition coaching app developed and operated by Prathap Adicherla, based in the United Kingdom.

📋What data we collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide you with personalised nutrition guidance:

• Account information — your name and email address when you sign up
• Profile data — age, gender, height, weight, fitness goal, dietary preferences and allergies
• Meal logs — meals you log, calories, macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat)
• Water intake — daily water tracking data
• Weight history — weight entries you manually log
• Day type selections — your daily check-in (e.g. Gym day, Manic day)
• AI coach conversations — messages you send to the NutriAI Coach
• Device data — basic device information for app functionality

🎯Why we collect it

Every piece of data we collect has a specific purpose:

• Profile data → to calculate your personalised calorie and macro targets
• Meal logs → to track your daily nutrition and show your progress
• Day type → to adapt meal suggestions to your schedule and activity level
• AI conversations → to provide contextual nutrition coaching based on your goals
• Water + weight logs → to calculate your wellness score and track trends

📸Camera and photo access

NutriEat requests camera access only when you use the Scan Food feature to photograph meals for automatic nutrition analysis.

Photos taken within the app are sent to our AI analysis service and are not stored permanently on our servers.

We never access your camera or photo library without your explicit action.

❤️Apple HealthKit (iOS) and Google Health Connect (Android)

If you grant permission, NutriEat reads the following data from Apple HealthKit on iOS or Google Health Connect on Android:

• Daily step count (READ_STEPS on Android)
• Active calories burned (READ_ACTIVE_CALORIES_BURNED on Android)

This data is read on your device only and is never uploaded to our servers. It is never shared with third parties, sold, or used for advertising.

We use this data solely to display your daily activity inside the app and to personalise your calorie targets and meal recommendations based on how active you have been.

How to revoke access:

• iOS: Settings → Privacy → Health → NutriEat → Turn Off All Categories
• Android: Settings → Apps → Health Connect → App permissions → NutriEat → Remove access

🔔Push notifications

NutriEat may send you notifications for:

• Your daily morning check-in reminder
• Meal logging reminders
• Achievement and streak milestones

You can disable notifications at any time in your device Settings.

🤝Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate NutriEat:

• Supabase — secure database storage (EU region)
• Clerk — user authentication and account management
• Stripe — payment processing for NutriEat Pro subscriptions
• Anthropic — AI responses for the NutriAI Coach feature
• Resend — transactional emails (meal plan delivery)

🔒How we protect your data

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Your database is hosted on Supabase with row-level security policies
• Authentication is handled by Clerk with industry-standard security
• We never store passwords — authentication uses secure token-based sessions
• Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers

🗑️Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Correction — update incorrect information via your Profile settings
• Deletion — request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — opt out of any non-essential data processing

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@nutrieat.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.

🗑️Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is removed immediately.

• Account data (email, name, profile) — retained while active. Immediately deleted on account deletion.
• Meal logs, mood logs, wellness data — retained while active. Immediately deleted on account deletion.
• AI conversation history — retained while active for coaching context. Immediately deleted on account deletion.
• Payment data — handled by Apple, Google, and Stripe. We do not store payment card details.
• Health data (iOS HealthKit / Android Health Connect) — read on your device only. Never uploaded to or stored on our servers.
• Analytics data — retained in aggregated, non-identifying form for up to 24 months for service improvement.

Deleting your account is immediate and permanent. You can request deletion at any time via Profile → Settings → Delete Account inside the app, or by emailing support@nutrieat.co.uk.

👶Children's privacy

NutriEat is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

🍪Cookies and tracking

The NutriEat web app (nutrieat.co.uk) uses minimal cookies necessary for authentication and session management only. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

🌍Data storage location

Your data is stored on servers within the European Union via Supabase. If you are based outside the EU, your data may be transferred to EU servers in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

📝Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via the app if changes are significant.

Continued use of NutriEat after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
